Summer info
Summer skiing area is open from mid-June until the end of August. The snow conditions tend to be best earlier in the summer.
Skiing on the glacier is physically more demanding than exercise at lower altitudes. For this reason, we recommend that children be a little older before starting lessons in the summer.
Summer ski conditions on the glacier are similar to what you might find lower down the mountain in spring.
The Deux Alpes Glacier is a fairly gentle angle so most of the slopes are wide blue runs. There are red runs available earlier in the summer season, as long as there is sufficient snow cover.
Many families, couples and groups like to learn in summer as they can combine skiing with other holiday activities.
The summer skiing area can be reached in 30 minutes using the Jandri Express cable car.
In summer, beginners need to use the Jandri Express cable car to reach the ski area, and the underground funicular railway to reach the beginner slopes. A lift pass is required to use these lifts.
There is actually a dedicated summer snowpark on the glacier, separate from the winter one and just as big. The summer park has two halfpipes, zones for slopestyle, rails and big air, and an introductory easy-park. There are many freestyle camps held here in the summer including our own ski and snowboard camps.
The list is endless – mountain biking, hiking, paragliding, rock climbing, road biking, paintball, the adventure park, rafting, canyoning, golf, tennis, football, archery, trampolining, the summer luge, swimming, a lakeside beach, canoeing and kayaking, via ferrata, picturesque villages to explore, weekly markets, mountaineering and more. Most activities can be booked, or equipment rented, through the ski school. Visit our office while you are here if you need some ideas.
